Recently Russian media has revealed that Russian Tornado-S (S9A53-S Tornado) MLRS
weapon system was offered to India along with other weapon systems like
T14 Armata tanks and Indian Army is considering this offer to counter
China. Tornado-S price is stated to be around $110 million dollars approximately for 20 systems

Corporation develops ultramodern weapons systems for Russian armed
forces and Tornado-S is their priced weapon system recently they got
export certificate for this system and will start exporting for
international buyers.

Its most important feature is the revolutionary 300 mm guided rockets with a range of up to 130 km. Tornado-S is the upgrade of BM-30 Smerch and is superior to BM-21, BM-27 Uragan and Tornado G, particularly with greater technical improvements, better range, mobility and firing accuracy. Also flight mission data individually can be entered for each rocket they were made on the basis of 300 mm correctable rockets with support of onboard system of GPS equipment. The Tornado-S launcher can destroy enemy's infantry position both mobile and stationary single or group targets. Russian MLRS can be effectively used against rocket and artillery units including firing and launch sites. This system is especially useful in targeting enemy's strike corps and its mobile units, SAM battery, AAs, command posts, tank units, grounded helicopter, and enemy planes. The Tornado-S has the latest GLONASS GPS system. The tornado-S has guided rockets, which can fire up to approximately 70 miles. The Tornado-S has excellent accuracy and better range because of better warheads and quick launch time of around 2 minutes. The Tornado-S was inducted in the Russian army in 2016 and since then is the mainstay of the Russian rocket artillery.
The Tornado-S can also work with UAV like Israeli heron drones, which India uses. Tornado-S can also fire shells, which can launch recon drones that will hover over enemy positions and guide its fire. The Tornado-S is mounted on kamAZ army truck, which gives excellent mobility. It is fitted with 6 launch tubes for 300 mm rockets, which can launch all types of rockets including cluster shells with tank and anti-personal mines the 800 kg main rocket has an improved range of approximately 100 km.
